Commonly used in ancient Chinese medicine, acupuncture is the insertion of thin sterilized needles at certain points of the body to restore energy flow and re-balance the body. Also used to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue which stimulates the body’s natural healing system. Acupuncture is commonly used to treat pain, illness in area, anxiety, stress, fertility issues, and whole body discomfort.
What is AcuGraph?
AcuGraph is a Digital Meridian Imaging System that allows a practitioner to measure and analyze energetic statuses of acupuncture meridians in a simple painless 5 minute test.
What are acupuncture meridians?
Acupuncture meridians are energetic pathways that travel throughout the body. These meridians conduct life-force energy or Qi (pronounced “chee”) throughout your body. When a blockage occurs in the flow of these meridian pathways, energetic imbalances are the result and this is what contributes to negative health conditions. The primary goal of acupuncture treatment is to restore balance in these meridians and thus allow your body to function normally again and return to a natural state of health.
What will you learn from the AcuGraph exam?
Since each meridian is associated with a specific organ system, this gives us a clear indication of the current state of function (health) of each of the major organs; Heart, Liver, Lungs, Kidneys, Large Intestine, Stomach, Gall Bladder, Urinary Bladder and Spleen. Imagine one test that not only tells you how all your organs are functioning, but also tells you how each organ affects the others!
Adjustments & Manipulation
A chiropractic adjustment, also known as chiropractic manipulation, manual manipulation, or spinal manipulation, is the primary chiropractic treatment method for back pain.
Spinal manipulation relieves pressure on joints, reduces inflammation, and improves nerve function. It has been a trusted form of treatment since the ancient Greek Hippocrates documented manipulative techniques in his writings back in 1500 B.C. Today, spinal manipulation is used to treat conditions such as allergies, menstrual cramps and headaches.
How Does Spinal Manipulation Work?
There are well over 100 types of adjustment techniques used by chiropractors throughout the world. Some practitioners may use force and twisting, while other techniques are more gentle. Regardless of how they are performed, these techniques are intended to restore or enhance joint function with the objectives of reducing pain and resolving joint inflammation.
When vertebrae shift out of place, there is an overall systemic response from the muscular system to the central nervous system. Without proper alignment and flow, our nerves, our immune system, and our minds cannot function at their highest peak.
Overall, spinal adjustments and manipulations are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level without any discomfort. When the body is adequately aligned, it becomes able to respond and perform as it was built to do.
Pregnancy Chiropractic Treatment
If you’re pregnant, you’re probably feeling many changes in your body. And if you don’t feel them yet, you will. Your body is in the process of preparing for a very important task: keeping your baby safe and healthy before finally bringing them into the world. During this time, your bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments will all have to adapt.
It’s a completely natural process, but that doesn’t mean it’s a comfortable one. And if those components don’t adapt properly, you can end up spending too much time in the delivery room, possibly needing a C-section to deliver your child. One of the most natural ways to address these potential issues and the pain and discomfort during pregnancy is chiropractic care.
Is Pregnancy Chiropractic Safe?
It’s not unusual to be concerned about the safety of having adjustments while pregnant – and it’s always a good thing to ask your OBGYN. Generally, pregnancy chiropractic care is not only completely safe but also very beneficial.
However, if you have certain issues, like vaginal bleeding or ectopic pregnancy, you should probably avoid it. You can discuss any issues or concerns with Dr. Piacente.
Chiropractic care during pregnancy can provide several benefits, including:
Pain relief, especially in the back, hips, and neck
Reduce your labor time
Prevent the chances of needing a C-section
Improve pelvic alignment
